The New Mexico Big Horn Gun Club (NMBHGC) was founded by several local black powder shooters in 1977. The club is a non-profit organization, and is an NRA affiliated club. Club membership is open to the public, and new members are always welcomed. Our members come from all surrounding communities, including Edgewood, Moriarty, Tijeras, Santa Fe and Albuquerque.
The purpose of the NMBHGC is to promote the shooting sports and to provide a safe range facility for the enjoyment of its membership. The club sponsors various special events and activities throughout the year, including it’s annual black powder rendezvous, “The Cache Le Plew.”
THE RANGE IS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. THE TORRANCE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE HAS ASKED US TO CLOSE THE RANGE DUE TO HAZARDOUS ROAD CONDITIONS. THE MORE OUR MEMBERS TRY TO GET TO THE RANGE, THE MORE THE ROAD IN THE PARK GETS TORN UP. THERE HAS BEEN SEVERAL MEMBERS WHO HAVE GOTTEN STUCK ON THE ROAD INSIDE THE COUNTY PARK. THE BOARD WOULD LIKE YOUR COOPERATION IN STAYING AWAY FROM THE RANGE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
The next Club Meeting will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019. The board meets at 6:30 and the general meeting for members starts at 7:00. As a reminder, there will be no meeting in January.
